Felipe Carrillo Puerto is considered as the “Mayan Heard of the Mexican Caribbean”, which is located 157 kilometers from Chetumal, tha capital of the state, and 230 kiloteters from Cancún, This city represents the cultural identity of the state, in its surroundings you’ll found the biosphere of Sian Ka´an, world human heritage. Its excellent location turns it in the encounter point of the state, connected via highway with the most important cities of the state, such as some of the state of Yucatán.
The Mayan culture it’s still very deeply-rooted for the locals, one of the top expressions of this is the Sanctuary of the Cruz Parlante, historic and sacred Mayan temple where the Mayan priests still gather together to have important religious ceremonies inherited by their ancestors, which are now traditions and habits of the state; this reunions take place every 9th of each month commanded by the Mayan General, the top authority. This encounters symbolized their rites and beliefs through prayers and cooking at the traditional music rhythm of Maya Pax.
In Chunyaxche (located 72 kiloteners Hawai from the city) is located an important archaeological zone between a lagoon of the same name, communicated by canals with the coast.
